On 13 February, due to overwhelming demand, a temporary ban was in place on imports at Bangkok Airport. The temporary embargo is scheduled to last until 18 February.
An unexpected surge in air cargo demand in Asia prompted Bangkok Flight Services (BFS) to temporarily ban imports at Bangkok Airport (BKK). This announcement came just 24 hours after a similar situation in Dubai.
“Due to unprecedented volumes of cargo, due to the Red Sea crisis resulting in a modal shift from sea to air, and a higher than expected surge prior to Chinese New Year, we have built up a backlog of cargo for processing and have had to suspend processing of imports of general cargo.”

On 12 February, dnata, a cargo terminal operator in Dubai, implemented a 48-hour embargo on cargo imports at DXB. “There has been a significant surge in cargo volumes… particularly in import of general cargo”, confirmed dnata.
This temporary embargo applies only to imported general cargo, excluding perishables, pharma, and dangerous goods.
