UK Haulage Crisis: RED ALERT Please Read
Updated: Sep 8
Due to the current haulage crisis, AWL faces significant difficulty in providing our usual high service levels. We request that our customers please read the following explanation and thank you for your understanding at this time.
The UK now has an estimated shortfall of more than 65,000 HGV drivers. This, combined with the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, increasing fuel prices and a hike in the cost of global supply chain movements, has created the perfect storm.
Advantage Worldwide is now under substantial pressure to satisfy the demands of both our customers and partners overseas. As a result, AWL and our hauliers are having to increase rates or introduce surcharges to cover costs. In some instances, we unavoidably have to pass on quay rent or demurrage charges due to the current congestion at all UK ports.
As we continue our drive to ensure we maintain our high levels of service by satisfying all requirements, we are asking for your patience at this time.
With UK deliveries in mind and with driver shortage at the core of pressures, it would be extremely helpful if our customers are able to provide a degree of flexibility when receiving containers and/or goods in.
