The Future of Car Servicing

Updated: Dec 3, 2020

Most dealerships are probably aware of the MIV (Man in Van) engine replacement service offered by Ford. The concept is simple: a full engine replacement is delivered to the car dealership, rather than booking out a short service block.

The Man In Van service delivers a full engine replacement to the dealership

It’s a win-win situation for everyone:

  • Customers get a totally brand-new engine, including new injectors/turbochargers and all of the other ancillaries.

  • Dealerships save precious time on labour. The technician simply installs the new engine, rather than having to spend time swapping components across from the old unit.

  • Ford get an early warning of any potential failures. Returned engines are examined to determine the cause of the problem. This allows the engineering teams to rapidly put a fix in place to protect future customers.

So, what’s new? Ford engineering have outsourced the MIV process to the AWL Automotive Division.

It involves the same expert engineering teams, and the service is available on all the new technology engines.

This includes petrol Ecoboost, 1.0-litre Fox Upgrade, 1.5-litre Dragon and the new 2.3-litre engine used in the All-New Ford Focus ST. Diesel engines are also covered, including the new EcoBlue in both 2.0-litre and 1.5-litre form.

It’s simple to order a replacement engine via MIV. Dealerships can contact the team on the following dedicated telephone number or email us directly.
